THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- UC Davis junior Louie Bishop shot a 2-over par 73 during Tuesday afternoon's final round, finishing in a tie for 35th place and leading UC Davis during the final day of action at the Ashworth Invitational, hosted by USC at North Ranch Country Club.
The Aggie men's golf team had its best round of the 54-hole tournament during the final 18 holes, scoring 298 and finishing 15th with a three-round score of 922. All five UC Davis golfers posted their best rounds of the tournament in the final round. Pepperdine posted a nine-stroke victory over the host Trojans, going 3-under in the final round for a 9-over score of 861. Stanford finished three strokes back of USC in third while UCLA and Oklahoma tied for fourth at 23-over.
Anthony Kim of Oklahoma posted rounds of 68, 69 and 67, taking medalist honors with a 9-under, 204. Stanford's Zack Miller was seven shots behind at 211 while Zack Byrd of Coastal Carolina and Adam Porzak of Pepperdine tied for third at 212.
Bishop had his best round of the tournament in the final round, shooting a 73 over the 6,742-yard layout. His 54-hole total of 11-over 224 put him a tie for 35th place. He started the day with a 77 in the second round, which was halted at its midway point on Monday due to weather conditions. Bishop had three birdies in his final round.
Nate Pistacchio had four birdies in his last round on Tuesday, posting his best score of the two-day event when he carded a 74. He tied for 51st place at 15-over 228. Erik Hill finished with a 76 and tied for 59th at 230, Ramie Sprinkling improved six strokes over his second-round score and had a 75 on his way to 76th place, and Matt Muscara carded a 76 to finish 77th.
