SAN DIEGO, Calif. - UC Davis is in fourth place following the first day at the San Diego State Invitational, played Saturday at the Lake San Marcos Country Club. In its first tournament of the spring season, UC Davis fired an opening-round 296, 8-over par. San Diego State's JV team and Saddleback JC are tied for first at 281, followed by Cal State Bakersfield at even-par 288.

Juniors Jay Westerlund and Josh Williams led UC Davis with identical 1-over par, 73s, on Saturday. Play concludes at the SDSU Invitational with the final 18 holes on Sunday.
