Aggies Defeat Hornets In First Dual Match Since 2001 Season

RANCHO MURIETA, Calif. - Junior Eric Restrepo fired a 1-under 71 to tie for medalist honors as UC Davis defeated Sacramento State, 293-301, in a rare men's golf dual match at the par 72, 6,839-yard Rancho Murieta North Golf Course Sunday afternoon.

Restrepo led a trio of Aggies to finish in the top four as senior Scott Gordon shot an even-par 72 and freshman Louie Bishop finished with a 2-over 74. Sophomore Erik Hill came in with a 76 while Steven Strong shot a 78 and Chris Kilkenny withdrew on his round.

For the Hornets, Brian Little tied Restrepo for low round with a 1-under 71. Kyle Davis finished with a 3-over 75 while Adam Croxton came in with a 77 and John Bowen added a 78 for the four scoring rounds. David Bunfill shot an 84 and Tom Bingham added a round of 90.

The dual format featured six players with the low four rounds counting towards the final team score.

Sunday's match marked the first dual for UC Davis since the Aggies fell to Western Washington during the 2001 season.

UC Davis will next be in action on March 29-30 when it hosts the Aggie Invitational at El Macero Country Club.
