BANDON DUNES, Ore. Keyed by two birdies over his final five holes, Matt Seramin finished with a 1-over 73 and tied for 31st place at the Bandon Dunes Championship on Sunday while the UC Davis men's golf team tied for 14th in the team standings.
Seramin led the Aggies for the second straight day, finishing 6-over 222 for the three-day event. UC Davis finished its weekend with a 303 team score, tying Big West Conference rival Long Beach State for 14th place at 34-over 898.
Matt Hansen shot 76 for UC Davis on Sunday, tying for 61st with teammate Ben Corfee who shot 77. Senior Tyler Raber also carded a 77 and tied for 39th place while Jonny Baxter concluded with an 80 and tied for 90th.
Colorado maintained its second-day lead, finishing 2 under and winning by five shots over Fresno State ,which posted a Sunday-best team score of 278. Third-ranked Washington (9 over) was third while Oregon (10 over) took fourth. Fourteenth-ranked SMU and No. 2 UCLA tied for fifth at 18 over.
Seramin had a double-bogey on his second hole but then played the next nine holes a shot below par. He was 3 over later in his round but birdied the par-4 3rd hole and the par-5 4th hole to get back to 1 over. He had pars on his last two holes, finishing with a 73.
Hansen had 14 pars on Sunday, including on each of his last six holes, carding an 11-over 227 total for the tournament. Corfee matched Hansen's total after posting a birdie and ending his day by playing his final five holes 1 under. Raber, who was 8 over overall, also ended his round strong, carding a birdie and six pars over his last seven holes. Baxter had back-to-back birdies on the 15th and 16th holes to help highlight his day.
Fresno State's Troix Tonkham shot a 3-under 69 on Sunday, shooting 6-under 210 and beating teammate Rufie Fessler by three shots.
UC Davis returns to action Mar. 28-30 at the U.S. Intercollegiate at Stanford.
