STEVINSON, Calif. -- Senior Louie Bishop shot a team-best 73 on Tuesday, missing his second consecutive tournament title by just one stroke, as he finished second at the Stevinson Ranch Invitational and helped pace the UC Davis men's golf team to a tie for third in the final standings.

Bishop, who captured his second collegiate career medalist honor earlier this month at the University of San Diego Callaway Invitational, finished at 1-under par 215 at the 15-team tournament which was hosted by Colorado at the par-72, 7,177-yard Stevinson Ranch Golf Club.

Matt Miller of Illinois State also had a 73 over the final 18 holes, finishing at 2-under 214 and claiming top individual honors in the 81-player field. Bishop had rounds of 67, 75 and 73 and was the only player besides Miller to cover the 54-hole tournament below par. Wichita State's Cameron Bishop and Dustin Garza each tied for third at 1-over 217.

Crisp and windy conditions were prevalent throughout the final round on Tuesday scores reflected the difficult playing conditions. Bishop's 73 was tied for the second-lowest score of the day with Akron's Brad Wright shooting 70 for the lowest. Winds gusted from 22-30 mph throughout the day.

Wichita State led wire-to-wire to earn top team honors, scoring 309 on Tuesday and 17-over 881 for the tournament. That was good enough for a 17-shot win over host Colorado which finished at 34-over 898. Iliinois State, Kansas, Akron and UC Davis each tied for third at 46-over 910. The four teams that tied for third finished one shot ahead of seventh-place Missouri.

The Aggies, who finished fourth or better for the second straight tournament had a 312 in the final round.

Matt Marshall had a 78 on Tuesday for UC Davis' second-best round of the day, finishing the event at 17-over 233 and tying for 35th place. Junior Nate Pistacchio, who carded a 2-under 70 in Mionday's opening round, had a 79 and tied for 30th at 232. Phil Huffman shot 82 in the final round and tied for 43rd at 234 while David Leuterio, playing in his first tournament for the Aggies, had an 84 and tied for 67th.

Bishop had his third top-three finish of the 2006-07 season, his fifth in eight tournaments in the top 10, and had a round in the 60's for the seventh straight event. He also finished below par for the fifth time this season and for the third straight time. His highest tournament score relative to par was a 2-over at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational in October.

UC Davis will return to action at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, to be played in Scottsdale, Ariz., on April 9-10.
