PATTERSON, Calif. - Sophomore Louie Bishop fired a 1-under, 71, to lead all players while UC Davis shot a 13-over, 301, to take a three-shot lead following the first day of play at the Diablo Grande Intercollegiate, played on the par 72, 7,018-yard Ranch Course at Diablo Grande.
The Aggies, playing their first tournament since mid-February, lead host Drake University (304) and DePaul (304) by three strokes and Jackson State (305) by four. Eastern Kentucky (311) and Cal State San Marcos (312) round out the six-team field.
Bishop was the only player to break par on Sunday as he lead two Aggies in the top 10. Senior Jay Westerlund is tied for 6th after he finished Sunday with a 2-over, 74. Senior Eric Restrepo is tied for 11th after an opening round of 76 while sophomore Steven Strong (80, T19th) and junior Erik Hill (81, T22nd) complete the Aggie lineup.
Play continues at the Diablo Grande Intercollegiate with 18 holes on Monday and Tuesday.
