EUGENE, Ore. - Senior Ben Corfee and junior Evan Knight each shot 3-over-par 74s while junior Jeremy Sanchez posted his team’s low round of even-par 71 to lead UC Davis on the final day of the Oregon Duck Invitational men’s collegiate golf tournament at Eugene Country Club Tuesday. The Aggies finished in 11th place among the 15-team field on the par-71, 7020-yard course.

Sanchez had back-to-back birdies on the 13th and 14th holes to begin his Tuesday round, then drained consecutive birdies on the fifth and sixth, giving himself a 14th-place jump to t66th on the final individual leaderboard. Corfee helped offset a tough back nine with birdies on the fourth, sixth and seventh holes to share his team’s low round and finish with a team-leading, 6-over-par 219 total. He tied for 23rd in the individual standings. Knight fired nine straight pars on the front nine to move up three places into a tie for 29th at 8-over 221.

Junior Brandon Baumgarten closed out his tourney with a 5-over 76 to move into t56th place at 226. Freshman Matt Robinson rounded out the Aggie field with his 80 for the day, finishing the tourney with a 237 total.

Fifth-ranked host Oregon won its own tournament with an 8-under 844, the only team to finish under par. Arizona finished second at 10-over 862 with Utah moving up to third at 15-over 867. Sulman Raza, an individual entrant for the Ducks, won the individual medalist honor at 8-under 205. He led an Oregon trifecta that included No. 1 Wyndham Clark at 5-under 208 and No. 8 Norman Xiong at 4-under 209.

UC Davis travels back to California to defend its title at The Goodwin, hosted at Stanford on Thursday through Saturday. This tournament was the site of the program’s historic upset of seven Top 40 teams – including No. 1 USC – one year ago.
