EL MACERO, Calif. - UC Davis senior Ben Corfee fired a 2-under-par 70 in the final round toward a 54-hole total of 215 strokes to capture individual medalist honors at the El Macero Classic men's collegiate golf tournament at El Macero Country Club Friday afternoon. The Aggies finished fourth as a team with a 10-over 899 total, five strokes behind team champion Seattle.

Corfee, a Jesuit High School graduate who grew up within viewing distance of El Macero's 18th green, birdied the fourth, ninth and 16th holes in his final round. He was one of two UC Davis fifth-seniors playing in their final home tournament. Nicolas Noya, entered as an individual participant, carded a 1-over 73 en route to a t10th-place total of 224 strokes.

Junior Brandon Baumgarten shot 2-under on the front nine and even par on the back to finish with a 70 Friday, joining Corfee and Noya in the top 10. His three-round total of 223 put him in a tie for eighth place with Washington State's Derek Bayley. Freshman Matt Robinson closed out his tournament with a 5-over 77 on Friday, while juniors Ryan Han and Evan Knight respectively turned in scores of 81 and 84 in the final round.

Corfee was also the only player to finish the tournament under par. Fresno State Alex Lee was the tourney's individual runner-up at 1-over-par 217, while Nevada's Grant Booth took third with a 218. Seattle, which sat in fifth place after Thursday's 36 holes, compiled a 287 to overtake Fresno State and Oregon State for the team race.

UC Davis also scored points in the Causeway Cup race, as Sacramento State finished five places and 17 strokes behind the Aggies. The El Macero Classic, played on a par-72, 7,097 course, featured 14 teams and 78 total players this year.

The Aggies are now idle until the Big West Conference Championship, hosted by UC Santa Barbara from May 1-3.
