U.S. Intercollegiate Results and Live Scoring
STANFORD, Calif. -- UC Davis freshman and reigning Big West Conference Golfer of the Month Austin Graham fired a 1-under-par 69 in the opening round of the U.S. Intercollegiate men's golf tournament at the par-70, 6,742-yard Stanford Golf Course Saturday, placing him in a tie for sixth place after two rounds.The Aggies, launching a stretch of four straight days of competition, finished Day 1 in 10th place with a team total of 596 strokes. USC, ranked fifth in the most recent Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index, leads the 17-team field at 554, well ahead of host Stanford at 572 and third-place UCLA at 574. In all, eight teams among the national top 50 are competing at the U.S. Intercollegiate.
Graham followed his first-round performance with a 3-over-par 73 in the second to finish at 142, nine strokes off the leader, USC's Rory Hie. Other UC Davis finishers include sophomore Gregg Button, who finished the day in a tie for 43rd place at 150; and junior Ramie Sprinkling, who shares 56th place with 152 strokes. Senior Matt Marshall and junior Nate Pistacchio rounded out the Aggie lineup with identical 153 scores, putting them in a tie for 62nd.
Hie tied his own Trojan school record with a 62 in the first round, then carded a 1-over-par 71 in the second round to finish atop the Day 1 leaderboard at 133 strokes. Teammate Tom Glissmeyer holds sole possession of second place at 139, while USC's Jamie Lovemark and UCLA's Kevin Chappell each turned in scores of 69 and 71 to share third place at 140.

With team totals of 293 and 303 respectively in the first two rounds, UC Davis' 36-hole total of 596 trails ninth-place Oregon by four strokes and holds a slight edge over Toledo (597) and Washington (598). The Aggies also finished Day 1 ahead of 45th-ranked TCU, which is in 13th place at 602 strokes.
UC Davis finishes action at the U.S. Intercollegiate on Sunday, then heads south to Rancho Santa Margarita for the Big West Conference Championship on Monday and Tuesday.
