Bakersfield Leads, Aggies In Fourth At CCAA Championships

Complete Results UC Davis fired an open-day score of 612 and trails leader Cal State Bakersfield (603) by nine strokes following the first two rounds of play at the 2003 California Collegiate Athletic Association men's golf championships played in windy, rainy conditions Monday on the Ranch Course at Diablo Grande.

The Roadrunners lead the tournament followed by Chico State (607), Cal State Stanislaus (609) and the Aggies (612). First-day scores were not available for Grand Canyon, Cal State, San Bernardino, UC San Diego and Cal State Domingiuez Hills.

The Aggies opened the day with a score of 304 in the first round and followed that up with a 308 in the afternoon. Junior Jay Westerlund leads UC Davis after rounds of 75-73 for a first-day score of 148. Sophomore Eric Restrepo improved on his first round score by three strokes as he shot 77-74 to finish at 151. Juniors Chris Kilkenny (155) and Scott Gordon (158), along with freshman Jason Gambonini (162), are also competing for the Aggies.

Play continues at the CCAA Championships with a final 18 holes on Tuesday morning.
