SAN JACINTO, Calif. - Senior Matt Hansen finished with two birdies on his way to a 3-under 69 on Monday and will take a five-stroke lead into Tuesday's final round of the Big West Championship for the second-place UC Davis men's golf team.

The Aggies, looking for their first conference title since 2012 and their fourth overall, are two shots behind top-seeded Cal State Fullerton. Both teams shot 3-over 291, leaving the Titans at 2-over 578 through 36 holes and UC Davis at 4 over. UC Riverside fired a 6-under 282 to jump from ninth place on Sunday to third place at 10 over a day later.

Redshirt freshman Nicolas Noya shot 74 in the second round and is tied for ninth at par, Ben Corfee carded a 75 and is tied for 22nd at 6 over, Luke Vivolo is tied for 24th at 7 over after his 73, and Joshua Granger is tied for 32nd at 8 over after firing a 75.

Hansen is looking for his second straight individual title and the third of his career. He put himself in good position after another impressive round. Three birdies and just one bogey on his front nine helped him make his turn at 2 under while his closing birdies put him 1 under on the back.

Hansen is 8 under and holds a five-shot lead over Mark Anguiano of Cal State Fullerton, Naino Calip of Hawaii and Kyler Sauer of Cal State Northridge.

Noya is trying for his second consecutive top-10 finish and had a steady second round that was comprised one birdie, 15 pars, a bogey and one double-bogey. He was 1 under heading to the 12th hole before playing The Country Club at Soboba Springs course 3 over the rest of the way.

Corfee has shot 75 in each round, collecting three birdies on Monday and playing the last nine holes just a shot over par. Like Hansen, Vivolo also had birdies on his last two holes while posting five overall. He played the back nine even. Granger rallied down the stretch with a birdie on the par-5 16th and an eagle on the par-5 18th to turn a 6-over day into a 3-over finish.

The winner of the Big West Championship earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Championships next month.

UC Davis will play the final round with Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside. The Aggies will begin their day on the first hole starting at 8:20 a.m.
