LAWRENCE, Kansas. -- Junior Nate Pistacchio fired a team-best even-par 72 on Tuesday to lead the UC Davis men's golf team, which finished 10th, at the season-opening Kansas Invitational at the Alvamar Golf Club.

The Aggies, who were in fifth after Monday's first two rounds, shot a team score of 313 over the par 72, 7,092-yard course in the final round. UC Davis finished at 45-over par 909, three shots behind ninth-place Missouri-Kansas City and nine shots in front of Missouri State.

Host Kansas led wire-to-wire, posting the lowest score for the third consecutive round. The Jayhawks finished with a 288 on Tuesday giving them a 2-under total of 862 and a 20-shot victory over Iowa State and Nebraska. Houston finished fourth and Illinois State took fifth.

Pistacchio's 72 was the Aggies' best round on Tuesday and tied him for 26th place at 9-over 225. He opened the tournament with a 78 on Monday before improving to a 75 in the second round. Senior Louie Bishop, who was two shots under par after Monday, finished with a 75 on Tuesday to capture sixth at 1-over 217.

Matt Marshall concluded his first tournament as an Aggie with an 84, finishing tied for 55th, while freshman Phil Huffman and and Kelvin Lo had 84 and 82, respectively, to finish 81st and 85th.

The Aggies' Brent Booth, playing as an individual, shot a 76 for the second consecutive round and tied for 46th at 14-over.

Gary Woodland of Kansas posted a four-shot victory over Jordan Irwin of Houston with Matt Miller of Illinois State, who was three under, the only other play to break par for the event. Woodland shot 9-under for the tournament.

UC Davis returns to action on Monday at the Husky Invitational in Seattle, Wash.
