ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Ramie Sprinkling shot a 2-under 69 on Sunday to earn medalist honors at the Wolverine Intercollegiate - the second Aggie to win a tournament in the past six days - as the UC Davis men's golf team placed second at the University of Michigan tournament.

Sprinkling, a senior from Camarillo, finished the 54-hole event at 7-under 206, after 69's in the first and third rounds were sandwiched around a 68 in the second. It is his first career win.

Sprinkling joined teammate Austin Graham as early-season winners for the 32nd-ranked Aggies after Graham helped lead UC Davis to the Kansas Invitational title last week, earning medalist honors for the first time in his college career.

The host Wolverines, who had a two-shot advantage over UC Davis heading into the last round, matched the Aggies' 284 to post a two-shot win at 11-under 841 on their home U-M Golf Course. Cal was three shots back of the Aggies in third at 6 under while Michigan State finished at 4 under to earn fourth.

Graham continued his strong play by finishing in a tie for 11th at Michigan, shooting a 70 to finish at 2-under 211. Senior Nate Pistacchio tied for 22nd after a 73 on Sunday put him at 1-over 214 for the tournament. Freshman Tyler Raber had a solid 72 in the final round while junior Brent Booth had a 74, both tying for 37th at 4-over 217.

Sprinkling beat John Murphy of Cal by a stroke and three other players by two. He twice placed fourth last year for his previous top career placings.

UC Davis will try to keep its strong start going when it travels to the Husky Invitational next week at the University of Washington.
