Oct. 2, 2017

HARTFORD, Wisc. - UC Davis compiled a team score of 306 strokes on Monday’s action of the Marquette Intercollegiate men’s collegiate golf tournament at Erin Hills Golf Course. The Aggies slipped from seventh place into a tie for 11th in the team standings.

Senior Evan Knight posted UC Davis’ low round of 3-over-par 75 while freshman Thomas Hutchison turned in a 5-over 77, both moving into a tie for 43rd on the individual leaderboard. Sophomore Matt Robinson carded a 78, junior Jesse Bratz scored an 81, the senior Brandon Baumgarten shot a 76 to round out the Aggie field. Robinson and Bratz are now tied for 53rd overall, with Baumgarten in T63rd.

Texas A&M and UCLA jumped into the top two places in the team race, finishing at 580 and 581 strokes through 36 holes. Host Marquette is third at 10-over 586. UC Davis has a two-round total of 605, matching Northwestern. Meanwhile, Marquette’s Austin Kendziorski sits atop the individual leaderboard with his 5-under 139 score thus far.

Erin Hills GC was the site of the 117th U.S. Open earlier this year. The par-72 course covered 7,722 yards, just 19 yards shorter than that of the PGA Tour major last June.

The Marquette Intercollegiate concludes with a final 18-hole round on Tuesday.
