FAIRFAX, Calif. - Matt Hansen, Matt Seramin and Jonny Baxter tied for 26th overall at 1-over 214 as the UC Davis men's golf team, ranked 33rd nationally, tied for ninth place at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, hosted by Cal at the Meadow Club in Fairfax.

UC Davis finished with a collective 4-over 856 to tie with San Jose State for ninth place in a tournament that featured six of the top 50 teams in the country. The Aggies were just three strokes back of No. 44 Fresno State, which was eighth at one over.

Led by individual medalist Brandon Hagy, host and top-ranked Cal won the team title, finishing at 46-under 806. San Francisco finished second at 26 under while Colorado State was third at 13 under.

Hansen, Baxter and Seramin each finished at 1-over 214 while Tyler Raber carded a team-low 72 on the day to finish at 2-over 215 and tie for 34th place. Mike Brockington was 73rd at 13-over 226.

Hansen was at two over through his front nine, birdying on the par-5 13th hole, then turned the corner and promptly eagled hole one to jump back to even. An unfortunate double bogey two holes later, however, sent him back to two over and he closed with two more bogeys for a final third-round score of 4-over 75.

Baxter started strong and was at two under after a strong front nine. He parred the first three holes, then birdied on the par-5 13th hole to reach one under. After three additional pars, he birdied again, improving to two under before turning the corner. He bogeyed four of his final nine holes, however, and finished at 2-over 73.

Raber's 1-over 72 was the team's lowest round of the day. The Aggie senior got off to a strong start with a birdie on his very first hole, then followed that with five straight pars and his second birdie of the round to reach two under. He closed out the front nine with double bogey on the 18th hole, but quickly moved back to one under with a birdie on the very next hole. Raber parred six of his final eight holes, finishing at one over for the day.

The Aggies will close fall competition Oct. 29-31 at the Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif.
