LA QUINTA, Calif. - Zack Miller shot a 3-under par 69 during Tuesday's final round to earn medalist honors while teammate Joseph Bramlett had a 68, as ninth-ranked Stanford dethroned three-time defending champion UCLA by two strokes to win The Prestige at PGA WEST, played at the Greg Norman Course.
The UC Davis men's golf team, which co-hosted the tournament for the seventh year with the Cardinal, finished in eighth place as senior Louie Bishop posted a top-10 finish with his tie for seventh at 4-under 212. UC Davis junior Matt Marshall carded a 2-under 70 during the final round and tied for 23rd at 219.
No. 12-ranked UCLA posted a team score of 294 during Monday's first round before roaring back with a tournament-low 12-under 276 in the afternoon round, closing to within a stroke of Stanford heading into the final round. However, the Cardinal went 8-under par on Tuesday as it battled the Bruins down the stretch, holding off UCLA at 15-under 849 after UCLA finished at 851.
UC Irvine was the only other school in the 15-team tournament to finish the 54-hole event below par, finishing at 5-under 859. Minnesota took fourth at 6-over par while top-ranked USC and No. 27 Kansas tied for fifth place at 13-over.
UC Davis fired a team score of 292 on the final day, finishing just a stroke behind the Fighting Irish at 16-over, 880. The Aggies were four shots in front of ninth-place Colorado.

Eight teams ranked in the top 50 by Golfweek were entered in the tournament, a group that also included No. 30 Minnesota, No. 34 Cal, No. 44 Colorado and No. 45 Notre Dame.
Miller went under par in each round, shooting 71 and 67 on Monday before firing a 69 on Tuesday to finish the event at 9-under 207. He beat Jay Choe of UC Irvine and Lucas Lee of UCLA, who each tied for second three shots off the pace, while three other players - Tyler Docking of Kansas, Ben Pisani of Minnesota and Gary Woodland of Kansas - tied for fourth at 5-under.
Fourteen players completed play below par on the par 72, 7,156 yard layout at PGA WEST while 10 shot scores in the 60's in the final round.
Among those breaking par was Bishop, who entered the day at 1-under par before carding a 69 on Tuesday to maintain his tie for seventh-place position which he held after 36 holes. Bishop led all golfers in par-3 play, playing the holes 2-under. He was also five shots under par on par-5 holes.
Marshall cut five strokes off his Monday afternoon score to shoot 70 in the final day, tying Rob Grube of Stanford at 3-over. The Aggies' Nate Pistacchio had a 78 on Tuesday and tied for 39th at 9-over, Phil Huffman had a 75 and tied for 47th at 227, and freshman Kelvin Lo finished 74th. Gregg Button, playing as an individual, was two places back of Lo.
The tournament, which brings together some of the top academic and golf-playing institutions in the country, also featured a juniors clinic and a college-am tournament.
