Aggies Improve Two Spots Following Second Round Of Play At The Nelson

STANFORD, Calif. - The University of New Mexico fired a 7-under, 269, in the second round and holds a one stroke lead over UNLV following the second day of play at The Nelson, hosted by Stanford and played at the par 69, 6,444-yard Stanford Golf Course. UC Davis improved nine strokes over its first round score to shoot a 286 and has a two-round score of 581, 35 strokes off the lead and in 13th place.

New Mexico's score was the second-lowest of the day behind UNLV's 268 which gave the Rebels a two-day score of 547, one stroke behind the Lobos. First-day leader Georgia State (554) finished the second day a 3-over 279 and is eight strokes off the lead. Missouri (559) and Kansas State (563) round out the top five. Host Stanford sits in sixth place at 564.

Individually, New Mexico's Spencer Levin continues to hold the lead following his second-straight round of 4-under 65 for a two-day score of 130, four strokes better than Georgia State's Steve Tiley (134). A trio of players sit in third place, five strokes off the lead. The group includes UNLV teammates Jared Texter and Travis Whisman, along with Levin's teammate Jay Reynolds.

UC Davis was led by senior Jay Westerlund, who shot a 1-over 70 in Saturday's round. Westerlund has a two-day score of 145, tied for 47th along with teammates Steven Strong and Eric Restrepo. Strong shot a 4-over 73 while Restrepo improved by three shots over Friday's 74 with a 2-over 71 on Saturday. Erik Hill is tied for 59th after a 3-over 72 on Saturday.

Play concludes at The Nelson will a final 18 more holes on Sunday.
