STOCKTON, Calif. - Tyler Raber is tied for fourth and is just four strokes off the leader while Matt Seramin is tied for sixth place to lead the UC Davis men's golf team on an impressive second day of action at the SCVB Pacific Invitational at the Brookside Country Club in Stockton.
After a two-hour delay due to fog on the course, Raber carded a 67 on Tuesday and is nine under through 36 holes while Seramin is at eight under after a 66 in his second round.
Jonny Baxter is tied for 13th after matching his first round score of 69, completing a trio of Aggies in the top 20.
UC Davis is tied for third with host Pacific at 26-under 550 after posting the third lowest score of any team, shooting a 271 during the second round. Kansas State is in first at 32-under while BYU is second at 27-under.
Raber's front nine started strong and remained consistent throughout. After opening with a birdie, he went on to par three straight holes before carding his second birdie of the day on the par-4 fifth hole. He turned the corner at two under thanks to four consecutive pars, then birdied the first hole on his back nine to move to three under through ten.
He wavered for a bit after bogeying hole 11, but made up for it with back-to-back birdies on holes 13 and 14 then birdied two out of his three final holes for a season low 5-under 67.
Seramin's second round was just as strong as Raber's as the Aggie junior carded seven birdies and just one bogey. He, too, opened with a strong front nine, parring the first six consecutive holes before his first birdie came on the par-5 seventh hole.
He quickly moved to six under with birdies on five of the first six holes of his back nine and briefly dropped to five under with his lone bogey of the day on hole 17, but closed out with his seventh birdie of the afternoon for a career-low 66.
Despite a double bogey on the par-5 seventh hole, Baxter's second round was highlighted by five birdies, including four on his back nine, to go with 12 pars. He was even though ten after a birdie on the tenth hole, then closed out at 3-under 69 with birdies on three of his final five holes.
Hansen opened his second round with four straight birdies, but moved back to two under with bogeys on holes seven and 11. His final seven holes were highlighted by two additional birdies and four pars to finish at 3-under 69.
The final round of action begins on Wednesday.
