STOCKTON, Calif. - Three consecutive birdies on the back nine and an eagle on the front helped senior Matt Hansen shoot a 3-under 68 on Saturday, helping him finish in a tie for second while leading the UC Davis men's golf team to third at the SCVB Pacific Invitational at Stockton Country Club.

Ben Corfee and Mike Brockington also had 68s for the Aggies who were playing in their final fall tournament of the season.

UC Davis had its best round of the tournament in the third round, firing a 10-under 274 for the second-best team score of the day. That enabled the Aggies to post their second straight top-three finish. They shot 13-under 839.

Corfee was 5 under overall, tying for eighth and giving the Aggies' another top-10 finisher. Brockington tied for 19th at par while Jonny Baxter, who had a 70, tied for 30th at 3 over. Luke Vivolo carded a 75 and tied for 34th at 5 over.

BYU, ranked 45th, finished 26 under and won the tournament by seven shots over Santa Clara (-19) which shot 17 under in the final round. Long Beach State (-9) was fourth and Saint Mary's (-8) completed the top five.

Hansen was quickly in red numbers on Saturday, picking up an eagle on the par-5 second hole to go to 2 under after two holes. He made the turn even before going on a birdie blitz on the back nine. He birdied the 12th through 14th holes and then added another on the par-5 16th to help lead him to his third straight round in the 60s this week. Hansen was 8 under for the week.

Corfee matched Hansen's score, capitalizing on two front-nine birdies - and five overall - to shoot his 3-under score. Brockington's 68 was sparked by an impressive four straight birdies to start his round. He added another on the ninth hole and the finished his day with one on the par-4 18th.

Baxter had four birdies overall and played his front nine 3 under while Vivolo had five birdies on Saturday.

Joe Parkinson of BYU was 13 under and finished five strokes ahead of Hansen, BYU's Justin Kelley and Kevin Lee of Long Beach State.

The tournament brought to a close the Aggies' fall season. UC Davis will return to competition in February when they head to the Amer Ari Invitational in Hawaii.
