DAVIS, Calif. -- Nearly four months removed from their solid finish at the Windon Memorial Classic in October, the UC Davis men’s golfers kick off the spring portion of their 2017-18 schedule with the 27th-annual Amer Ari Intercollegiate, held on the King’s Course at Waikoloa Beach Resort this Thursday through Saturday.

The Aggies returned to action with their Q-school in mid-January, resulting in the lineup of senior Evan Knight, freshman Thomas Hutchison, sophomore Matt Robinson, junior Ryan Han and junior Jesse Bratz.

The Amer Ari, hosted by Hawaii-Hilo, consists of a College-Am on Tuesday, a practice round and luau on Wednesday, followed by 18 holes on each of the three tournament days. Six teams ranked in the top 20, including No. 1 Oklahoma, are part of the 18-team field which also includes No. 4 Georgia Tech, No. 9 Auburn, No. 11 Stanford, No. 13 Texas Tech, No. 16 Texas, No. 18 USC, Arizona State, Colorado, Hawai’i, Oregon, Oregon State, Pacific, San Jose State, TCU, and Japan’s Osaka Gakuin.

Knight led UC Davis during the three-tournament fall schedule, averaging 72.89 overall with three rounds of par or better. Hutchison, the team’s lone first-year to see action this year, closed out his first quarter with a season-best 70 at the Windon. Robinson enjoyed the team’s low round with a 3-under-par 67 to open the Windon.

Han only played in Duke’s Rod Myers Invitational last fall, but ended on a strong note: a 1-over 73 to move into a tie for 40th. Bratz appeared in all nine rounds during September and October, firing 1-over-par rounds at both the Marquette Intercollegiate and the Windon Memorial.
