May 10, 2017

DAVIS, Calif. - Senior Ben Corfee made the All-Big West Conference second team while junior Evan Knight captured honorable mention, representing UC Davis on the league’s year-end awards for men’s golf as announced Wednesday afternoon. This marks the third career all-conference award for Corfee, originally from El Macero, California; and the first for Knight, who hails from Novato, California.

Corfee led the Aggies in stroke average (72.73), rounds of par or better (13), top-10 finishes (3) and top-five finishes (2) during his final season. He capped his career by winning the El Macero Classic for his collegiate regular-season finale followed by a tie for fifth at the conference championship tournament. Corfee, who made the All-Big West second team in 2013-14 and the top squad in 2015-16, finishes up with a career scoring average of 73.12. He ranks fifth all-time in that category.

Knight finished second on the team with a 74.13 average and nine rounds of par or better. He enjoyed his best overall tournament in early April, placing t12th out of 110 players at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. That event also saw Knight card his best overall tourney of 4-under-par 212. He also finished t14th at the Windon Memorial to end the fall portion of the schedule.

UC Irvine’s David Kim captured Big West Conference Player of the Year honors. Champion UC Santa Barbara boasted the league’s Coach of the Year (Steve Lass) and the Freshman of the Year (Brett Bennett).

UC Davis finished fifth at the Big West championships, hosted by UCSB on May 1-3.
