DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis' Matt Hansen was named to the Division I PING All-West Region team for the second time in his impressive career, it was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Hansen, an All-Big West first-team honoree this season, was among 27 players honored from the West Region and 157 recognized from throughout the country. He was also just one of two Big West players to earn all-region honors, joining Mark Anguiano of Cal State Fullerton.
Hansen enjoyed another standout season for the Aggies, winning two of his final three tournaments, including back-to-back wins at the El Macero Classic and the Big West Championship. He posted a team-best 70.6 scoring average, had five top-10 finishes and posted a low-round of 65 at the The Goodwin at Stanford.
The senior from Los Osos, Calif., was a collective 29 under par for the season and had a run of nine consecutive tournaments with at least one round in the 60s.
Hansen also earned all-region honors as a freshman in 2011 on his way to PING All-America honorable mention accolades. He highlighted his season by winning the NCAA Southwest Regional and qualified for the NCAA Finals. Hansen was also a four-time All-Big West honoree.
UC Davis won the El Macero Classic last month before advancing to the NCAA Auburn Regional, its fourth regional appearance in the last seven seasons.
