DAVIS, Calif. - Tim Honeycutt, a three-time Sierra Valley Conference MVP at Union Mine High School in Placerville, has signed a financial aid agreement and will join the UC Davis men's golf team this fall, it was announced on Tuesday.

Honeycutt, who is transferring from Saint Mary's College where he spent last season, was his league's most valuable player for three consecutive years, culminating in 2007-08 when he posted a career-best 72.5 stroke average. He was a three-time All-Metro selection by the Sacramento Bee, including first-team honors as a sophomore when he won the CIF-San Joaquin Section Division I individual championship.

Honeycutt enjoyed particular success in 2006-07 as a juniors player on the Future Collegians World Tour, capturing the "For the Good of the Game" national award for character and sportsmanship, earning All-America honorable mention recognition and posting five top-10 finishes including a second and third place. He was also the West Region points leader while placing third nationally.

Additionally, Honeycutt won the 2007 AJCA Medicus Preseason Junior at Rancho Mirage, made it to the quarterfinal round of the 2007 California State Amateur, was medalist at the USGA Boys Junior Qualifier at Yolo Fliers the same year, and advanced to the Round of 16 at the U.S. Junior Championship at Augusta, Miss., later that season.

Honeycutt played in 10 tournaments during his freshman collegiate year at Saint Mary's last season, highlighting it with a season-low 70 in the final round of the Baylor Invitational. He had a 77.0 stroke average during the 2008-09 campaign.

"We're very excited Tim is joining our program," said head coach Cy Williams. "He's an accomplished player. He brings a lot of achievement to our roster and will be great addition."

UC Davis enjoyed an impressive season this past year, capturing the Big West Conference Championship and advancing to the NCAA West Regional.
