FAIRFAX, Calif. - UC Davis senior and NCAA regional qualifier Tyler Raber looks to defend his title at the prestigious Trans-Mississippi Amateur, this time held in his home state at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.

Raber won the 109th running of the tournament at Oak Tree National (Edmond, Okla.) a year ago, finishing at 2-under-282. He beat runner-up Steven Ihm, then a senior at Iowa, by a single stroke.

The El Macero native and three-time All-Big West Conference honoree has enjoyed success on the amateur scene this year. He won the Silicon Valley Amateur in January, then more recently finished in a tie for 11th place at the Memorial Amateur in nearby Carmichael. Raber currently ranks tied for fifth in the AmateurGolf.com Tournament Series rankings with 100 points.

Raber looks to become the first repeat Trans-Miss champion since Allen Miller won three straight in 1969-71. Among those to achieve that feat is the legendary Jack Nicklaus, who won the 1958 and 1959 titles.
