CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, Colo. - Matt Hansen shot a 1-under 69 on Tuesday while Tyler Raber finished at nine over as both UC Davis men's golfers completed their run at the 112th U.S. Amateur Championship at the Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colo.
Hansen concluded his fourth straight appearance at the U.S. Amateur in strong fashion, improving on his first round by six strokes.
He opened with four straight pars, but a bogey on the par-4 fifth hole bumped him to one over. He regrouped with a birdie just two holes later then closed out the front nine with back-to-back pars.
Hansen continued his solid play through his final nine holes, with a birdie on the 11th hole. A bogey on hole 15 briefly moved him back to even, but he birdied his final hole of the round to finish at 1-under 69 for the day.
Raber's second round was highlighted by nine pars, six of which came on the front nine, but the Aggie senior shot an 11-over 82 to finish at nine over for the tournament.
The competition now enters match play and will conclude on Aug. 19.
