STOCKTON, Calif. - The UC Davis men's golf team, ranked a season-high No. 50 by Golfweek and No. 61 by Golfstat, will concluded its fall season this week with the SCVB Pacific Invitational beginning on Thursday in Stockton.
The 12-team tournament will be feature 18 holes each day from Thursday through Saturday at Stockton Country Club. The course will play to a par-71 and measure 6,511 yards for the 12-team event. Besides UC Davis, also entered are Army, BYU, Charlotte, Denver, Fresno State, Kansas State, Long Beach State, Nevada, Pacific, Santa Clara and Saint Mary's.
The Aggies will be paired with Kansas State and Charlotte in the first round and will begin teeing off at 8:50 a.m. Jonny Baxter, Luke Vivolo, Mike Brockington, Ben Corfee and Matt Hansen will comprise the UC Davis quintet that will try to capitalize on a strong performance two weeks ago at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational hosted by Cal.
The Aggies rallied to an impressive second-place finish at the tough tournament, finishing with a 17-under 847 team score. Hansen was spectacular in the event, posting rounds of 68, 70 and 68 to tie for fourth at 10 under. Brockington (-2) and Corfee (-2) each tied for 18th, Vivolo tied for 27th at par and Baxter (+3) tied for 45th.
Hansen leads the team in scoring (70.9) while Corfee (73.2), Baxter (73.2), Vivolo (73.7) and Brockington (73.9) are providing solid backup.
The tournament is the fourth of fall events for UC Davis which will return to action after this weekend in February when it travels to the Ameri Ari Invitational in Hawaii.
