UC Davis men's golf signs Bay Area standout

UC Davis head men’s golf coach Cy Williams secured Archbishop Mitty High School standout Daniel Kim to a National Letter of Intent during the November signing period. The San Jose, California, native will enroll at the university in the fall of 2018.

Kim, who scored his first hole-in-one at the age of nine, holds seven top-three finishes on the Junior Tour of Northern California. He was the co-medalist with back-to-back 69s at the 2016 U.S. Junior Am Qualifier at Stanford Golf Course, placed third at the AJGA/CJGT Junior at Yorba Linda, and reached the round of 32 in the U.S. Junior Amateur. Kim also played in the AJGA Haas Family Invitational and the Western Junior Championship.

On the prep scene, Kim earned the West Catholic Athletic League title and the Rookie of the Year award as a freshman, then earned All-WCAL honors in each of the two years since. As a junior last spring, he and teammate Matt Lloyd posted the top two finishes at the CIF state tourney, helping the Monarchs capture its first-ever state team title.

UC Davis men’s golf begins the spring portion of its 2017-18 schedule at Hawaii-Hilo’s Amer Ari Intercollegiate from February 1-3. The Aggies host two home tournaments: the Prestige at PGA WEST in La Quinta (Feb. 19-21), then the El Macero Classic (April 13-15) to wrap up the regular season.
