CARMEL, Calif. - UC Davis golfer Luke Vivolo shot rounds of 68-69-137 to win the 2013 amateurgolf.com Tour Championship at Quail Lodge Golf Club on Sunday.
Vivolo was a two-shot winner over Santa Clara golfer Evan McLeod, who shot rounds of 70-69-139. The Aggie sophomore continued the success of UC Davis golfers in amateurgolf.com Tour events.
Hitting driver just four times over the course of the event, Vivolo focused on hitting fairways and greens. He buried an eight-foot par putt on the 17th hole and made three birdies to secure his victory.
Jeff Britton held on to the Senior Championship after holding off charges from amateurgolf.com's Pete Wlodkowski and Kenny Miller. Jeff's 149 was good enough for the win.
Amateurgolf.com Tour Net Player of the Year Vince Steele backed up a strong year with a win. His 153 was good for a 5-shot victory over Chris Ladd.
Vivolo is averaging 73.4 strokes through four tournaments for UC Davis this season. He highlighted his fall season with a 27th-place finish at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational in October, helping the Aggies to an impressive second-place finish. UC Davis returns to competition in February, opening the spring portion of their season at the Amer Ari Invitational in Hawaii.
