In joining the UC Davis soccer staff in 2005, Jason Hotaling reunited with his former coach, Dwayne Shaffer. He played for Shaffer at Santa Rosa Junior College in 1991 and 1992 before concluding his career at Chico State.
Hotaling begins his seventh season as an Aggie assistant coach. His primary responsibilities are managing and recruiting players while also handling all aspects of training the goalkeepers.
In addition to this duties with UC Davis, Hotaling works as a head coach for U12 and U16 teams with the Davis Youth Soccer League and with the Olympic Development Program in District 6, coaching and developing players while serving as a state evaluator. He also holds an advanced national goalkeeping license with the NSCAA and has taken leadership and management courses along the way.
After his collegiate career at SRJC and Chico State, Hotaling was a member of the Chico Rooks of the Premier Development League. He then returned to his hometown of Rohnert Park, Calif., where he finished his undergraduate degree at Sonoma State. Hotaling majored in speech communiciation with a minor in English.
