SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Medhi Ballouchy and Peter Lowry scored within 1:12 of each other early in the second half to lead the fifth-ranked Santa Clara University men's soccer team to a 4-1 win over UC Davis at the diadora Classic at Negoesco Stadium in San Francisco on Saturday evening.

With the loss the Aggies fall to 0-2 on the season while the Broncos improve to 2-0.

After a scoreless first half, Ballouchy found the back of the net for the Broncos in the 55th minute. Will Weatherly's pass allowed Ballouchy to shake the Aggie defense and put in the score from the left side. The goal marked the second in as many games for Ballouchy while Weatherly added his second assist on the year. Less than a minute and a half later, Lowry would put a free kick in between Aggie goalkeeper Charles Warne and the left post to give the Broncos a 2-0 advantage.

UC Davis cut the lead in half when freshman Nicholas Lind scored his second goal in as many games, taking a pass from Greg Hammond before beating Bronco goalkeeper Kent Harnkness to make the score 2-1 in the 72nd minute. Nine minutes later, Weatherly recorded his first goal of the season when he converted the Broncos' first penalty kick of the year to stretch the Santa Clara advantage to two goals. Kelechi Igwe recorded his first goal of the season with only 10 seconds left in the match with a breakaway goal for the fourth Bronco score of the contest.

Neither team had a shot in the first 10 minutes of the contest before SCU had its first true scoring opportunity when a cross from Ballouchy found Lowry at the top of the penalty box. Warne stopped the play with his first of five saves in the period.

Santa Clara outshot the Aggies 24-7 in the contest, including a 15-4 advantage in the second half. Warne finished the game with a career-best 11 saves.

UC Davis is next in action on Wednesday when it travels to Moraga for a 4 pm contest against Saint Mary's. UC DAVIS MEN'S SOCCER
