MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - Junior Ryan Shaw scored a pair of goals, the second coming in the final minute of regulation, and the Aggie defense help firm through two overtimes as UC Davis tied host Barry, 3-3, in the final contest of the Nike Invitational Sunday afternoon.

The Aggies are now 0-0-2 on the season while Barry goes to 1-2-1.

Shaw opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when he buried a free kick from 19 yards out. It would be the only goal of the first half as UC Davis took a 1-0 lead into intermission.

Barry evened the score just 15 minutes into the second half as Fitzgerald Clarke sent a ball from the endline to Mike Lupton inside the box. Lupton then found Abilio Yamane alone in the middle for the goal. Nine minutes later, senior Yuta Tanaka put the Aggies back on top as his blast found the top corner of the goal for the 2-1 lead.

In the 81st minute, Barry drew even again as Kevin Lamy's pass found Avi Scabini at the top of the penalty box and Scabini's resulting shot found its way past Aggie goalkeeper Nic Platter. The shot went inside the near post, making the score 2-2. Less than two minutes later, Barry took its only lead of the game when Scabini lofted a corner kick into the box and Justin Latapy headed it home for the 3-2 lead.

With the game clock inside the final minute, Shaw added his second goal of the day, again coming on a free kick, to tie the score at 3-3 and send the game into overtime. During the extra periods neither team could capitalize as the Aggies managed just two shots while Barry did not attempt a shot in either overtime.

Statistically the game was a close as the score with both teams managing to get 18 shots while Platter made five saves and Barry goalkeeper Ido Langer also recording five saves.

"I'm happy with the way we played," said UC Davis head coach Dwayne Shaffer. "To start the season on the road against two very good opponents and come away with two ties, I'll take it. I thought we played really well this weekend."

UC Davis will next be in action on Wednesday when it opens California Collegiate Athletic Association play with a home contest against defending NCAA Division II National Champion Sonoma State. Gametime is set for 1:30pm.
