CHICO, Calif. - Senior goalkeeper Nic Platter recorded a season-best four saves as UC Davis played to a 0-0, double-overtime draw against No.16 Chico State in a California Collegiate Athletic Association men's soccer match Tuesday night at University Soccer Stadium.
With the tie the Aggies move to 1-1-3 on the season, 1-1-1 in CCAA play while the Wildcats see their five-match winning streak come to an end and go to 5-0-1 overall, 2-0-1 in conference action. UC Davis also remains unbeaten against Chico State in the last nine meetings, posting a 7-0-2 mark in that time.
While the Aggie offense outshot the Wildcats 15-12, it was the goalkeeping on both ends of the field that stood out. Platter made all four of his saves in regulation while Wildcat keeper, Dominik Jakubek, also recorded five saves, with one coming in the second overtime. It marked the third straight shutout for Jakubek and extended his string of 325 minutes in which he hasn't allowed a goal.
The game was also the second-straight shutout for Platter as UC Davis defeated San Francisco State, 2-0, last Saturday in San Francisco.
UC Davis will next be in action on Friday when it hosts Cal State Stanislaus at Aggie Field. Gametime is set for 4pm.
