Aggies Fall 2-0 To Vermont At Oregon State Tournament

CORVALLIs, Ore. - Tony Anderson recorded a goal and an assist to lead Vermont to a 2-0 victory over UC Davis on the second day of the Stephen Hensor/Joe Zaher Memorial Tournament at Lorenz Field.

With the loss the Aggies fall to 1-4-1 on the season while Vermont improves to 3-2-1.

Vermont scored the games first goal in the 28th minute when Anderson found Scott Webb with a pass near the Aggie goal. Webb then beat Aggie keeper Charles Warne to make the score 1-0. Anderson then closed out the scoring in the second half when he took a long lead pass and did the rest on his own, giving Vermont an insurance goal for the final margin of victory.

For the game Vermont outshot the Aggies, 13-8, and held a slight 7-6 edge in corner kicks. Warne made six saves in goal for UC Dais while Vermont keeper David Sullivan had six saves of his own.

Offensively, Ryan Shaw and Keith Gilbert each had two shots on the day but could not sneak one past Sullivan.

UC Davis is next in action on Friday when it hosts San Diego State at Aggie Field. Gametime is set for 4 pm.
