Brad Evans scored two goals and Cameron Rossi recorded eight saves as UC Irvine defeated UC Davis 3-0 in a men's soccer game Friday evening at Anteater Stadium.
With the loss the Aggies fall to 3-5-1 on the season while the Anteaters improve to 4-5.
Evans put UCI on the board first with a goal 9:01 into the game off assists from Sean Iliff and Sebastian Galmarini. Galmarini then made it 2-0 in the 29th minute as he headed the ball past Aggie keeper Charles Warne off a pair of assists from Daniel Marshall and Doug Franco.
The score remained 2-0 into halftime as UCI held a 10-6 advantage in shots in the opening 45 minutes.
Evans closed out the scoring in the 61st minute as he converted a free kick from 25 yards out. It marked his sixth goal of the season.
Although UC Davis did not score it kept Rossi busy in net. The Aggies fired 13 shots on the evening, eight on goal as Rossi kept UC Davis off the scoreboard.
Rossi had eight saves to pick up his first shutout of the season and the 13th of his career. Warne had four saves for the Aggies in 73:40 minutes and Jake Martini had one save in 16:20 minutes of play.
UC Irvine outshot the Aggies 16-13 on the night and held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Aggies continue their Southern California road trip with a Sunday afternoon contest at UC Riverside. Gametime is set for 3 p.m.
