Amarikwa Traded to Colorado Rapids

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Former UC Davis men's soccer standout Quincy Amarikwa has been acquired by the Colorado Rapids of the MLS, it was announced earlier this month.

Amarikwa was traded from the San Jose Earthquakes to Colorado in exchange for the Rapids' natural second round 2012 Major League Soccer SuperDraft pick.

The 5-foot-9 forward scored one goal and posted two assists in 25 appearances with San Jose. He appeared in the Earthquakes' 2010 season opener against Real Salt Lake. Since joining the Rapids, he has seen action in one game.

While at UC Davis, Amarikwa appeared in 77 games over four seasons and reecorded 31 goals and seven assists. In 2008, he helped lead UC Davis to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history and earned second team All-America honors as well as NSCAA All-Far West Regional first team accolades.
