DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis head men’s soccer coach Dwayne Shaffer announced Wednesday that Jesuit High School’s Ayden Burnett has committed to continue his academic and athletic career with the Aggies beginning with the 2018 season.

“We are excited to add Ayden to our program,” Shaffer remarked. “He is an excellent soccer player that can play in several positions. He will add versatility, exceptional athleticism, and speed, to our team.”

Burnett, a 6-foot-2 defender from Folsom, Calif., whose high school and club teammate, Jordon Vice, was one of six to sign a letter of intent with the Aggies back in February, has played the last two varsity soccer seasons for the Marauders, while also playing three years of football and one season of tennis.

As a senior, he finished with three assists while helping Jesuit HS to a CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division I semifinal appearance and a 24-5-2 overall record. As a centerback, Burnett helped the Marauders post 16 shutouts during the 2017-18 season, earning All-Delta League honors in the process.

As a junior, he helped Jesuit HS to a section title with a 2-1 win over Sheldon HS, outscoring opponents by a 9-1 count in four playoff matches.
