MEN'S SOCCER OPENS BIG WEST CONFERENCE SCHEDULE
The UC Davis men's soccer team hosts Cal State Northridge and UC Riverside as Big West Conference action gets underway.
UC Davis hosts Cal State Northridge on Wednesday at 3 p.m. for the conference opener for both teams.
The Aggies then welcome UC Riverside to Aggie Soccer Field for a 3 p.m. match on Saturday.

Saturday's game is part of Youth Soccer Weekend and youth 13 and younger wearing their team jersey get in free.
UC Davis faculty and staff receive free admission with a staff ID card to Saturday's game against UC Riverside.
SCOUTING CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE
Cal State Northridge is 3-4-1 overall after splitting its weekend matches... The Matadors dropped a 1-0 decision to SMU on Sept. 23 then rallied with a 3-0 win over Seattle on Sunday.
Four different players have recorded two goals apiece and the team's 13 total goals have been scored by nine different players.
Chris Smith has contributed offensively with four assists... Carlos Benavides has three assists.
Goalkeeper Michael Abalos owns a .750 save percentage which is fifth-best in the Big West.
The Matadors have added 12 newcomers to the 2011 roster to join the 18 returning letterwinners.
Sixth-year head coach Terry Davila became the sixth coach in Big West history to win 100 games as a member of the conference with Cal State Northridge's 2-0 win over Canisius on Aug. 26.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE MATADORS
Since the first meeting in 2005, UC Davis owns a 6-2-2 record against Cal State Northridge.
Last season, the Aggies swept the Matadors with a 1-0 win on Oct. 9 in Northridge and a 1-0 double overtime victory on Oct. 16 in Davis.
UC Davis has not lost to Cal State Northridge since 2005... The Matadors took a 2-0 win on Oct. 29, 2005 in Northridge, then followed with a 5-0 win on Nov. 11, 2005 in Davis... The teams played to a tie on two different occasions: Oct. 1, 2006 (2-2) and Oct. 21, 2009 (0-0).
SCOUTING UC RIVERSIDE
The Highlanders are currently on a five-game unbeaten streak, having won four of their last five games... UC Riverside and San Jose State played to a 1-1 tie on Sept. 18.
UC Riverside moved to a program-best record of 5-2-1 with wins over the weekend against North Florida (2-0) and Jacksonville (2-1).
Senior Cesar Diaz Pizzaro has scored four goals and recorded two assists to lead the Highlanders offensively... Nine other players have scored for UC Riverside.
Goalkeeper Cody Suppe leads the league in saves with 35 and his .814 save percentage is second-best in the Big West.
Prior to this season, the Highlanders were last over the .500 mark in Oct. 27 when they were 4-3-5 through 12 matches.
AGGIES IN BIG WEST OPENERS
Since officially joining the Big West Conference in 2007, UC Davis is 1-2-1 in conference openers.
UC Davis last won its Big West opener on Sept. 30 with a 2-1 double overtime win at UC Irvine.
This year marks the first time since the 2007 season that the Aggies open conference play in Davis.
HORNETS TOP AGGIES IN 3-2 OVERTIME THRILLER
Matt Wiesenfarth scored the equalizer for UC Davis with only four minutes left in regulation, but Casey Bernard scored midway through the second overtime on Friday to give Sacramento State a 3-2 win.
Elliott Hord scored first for UC Davis with a goal in the 12th minute.
Sacramento State tied it with a goal from Adam Bettencourt in the 25th minute.
The teams remained even until the 82nd minute when Max Alvarez' shot found the back of the net for the 2-1 lead.
Wiesenfarth's tying goal came only four minutes later.
All five of UC Davis' home games have gone to overtime... The Sept. 18 loss to Northern Illinois is the only road game that has needed extra periods, for six total overtime games in 2011.
The Aggies played eight overtime matches during the 1992 season, the most in a single season in program history.
The Sept. 11 match against CSU Bakersfield marked the fourth straight overtime match for UC Davis, which tied a program record for consecutive OT games.
Four straight OT games last occurred Oct. 20-29, 1994 and the Aggies went 1-1-2 during that span.
UC Davis went to overtime only once in 1991 and 1993.
