IRVINE, Calif. - Junior Alex Henry picked up his second consecutive Big West Offensive Player of the Week honor after scoring the game-winning goal over eighth-ranked UC Santa Barbara on Saturday at Aggie Soccer Field, it was announced on Monday.
For the second straight week, Henry provided the late-game heroics for the UC Davis men's soccer team which improved to 6-4-4 overall and 4-1 in the Big West after defeating the Gauchos on Saturday.
In front of a season-high 1,344 fans, Henry lined up a direct free kick on the right wing at the 84:50 mark. He sent the ball into the penalty area and curled it into the upper left corner of the goal.
It was Henry's second goal in as many games as the Aggies defeated UC Santa Barbara for the first time since 2008. It also marked the first win against the Gauchos on Aggie Soccer Field since 2006.
UC Davis continues action on Tuesday at Cal Poly in a 7 p.m. game at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.
