AGGIES TRAVEL TO UCSB FOR LONE MATCH
The UC Davis men's soccer team heads south for its lone match of the week as the Aggies face No. 19 UC Santa Barbara at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Harder Stadium in Santa Barbara.

SCOUTING UC SANTA BARBARA
The Gauchos are ranked as high as 19th nationally by College Soccer News... UC Santa Barbara also owns a No. 21 ranking from Soccer Times and are ranked 23rd by the NSCAA.
UCSB is currently on a two-game losing streak after dropping matches at Cal Poly (2-1) and against UC Riverside (3-2) over the weekend.
Over the last three seasons, UC Santa Barbara had lost a combined five league games... In 2011, the Gauchos have dropped four conference matches and are currently in sixth place in the Big West standings.
The losses have not come from a lack of offense, however... Luis Silva has scored a conference-leading 10 goals while Sam Garza leads the league with 53 shots... Silva is just behind him with 52 attempts... David Opoku has added seven goals and Garza has six scores this year.
Goalkeeper Andre Grandt owns a .678 save percentage and is tied for the conference lead with six shutouts.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE GAUCHOS
After a 2-1 overtime loss in Davis on Oct. 8, UC Davis is now 2-10-2 all-time against UC Santa Barbara.
Since the teams' first meeting in 2004, six matches have resulted in overtime... UCSB owns a 4-0-2 advantage in those contests.
The last Aggie win at Harder Stadium was a 2-0 victory on Oct. 11, 2008.
AGGIES TAKE TWO MORE COMEBACK WINS
Sophomore Kevin Schulte scored twice against No. 7 UC Irvine on Oct. 19 to lead UC Davis to a 2-1 overtime victory.
A Matt Wiesenfarth goal and a penalty kick by Alex Aguiar resulted in UC Davis' third straight win as the Aggies took a 2-1 win over Cal Poly on Oct. 22 in Davis.
UC Davis has won five of its last six matches.
ZEENNI, SCHULTE SWEEP BIG WEST WEEKLY AWARDS
For the second straight week, UC Davis swept the conference's weekly honors.
Omar Zeenni picked up his second consecutive Defensive Player of the Week award after allowing only two goals in over 188 minutes in the net... He warded off 24 combined shots from the Anteaters and the Mustangs.
Kevin Schulte's heroics against UC Irvine on Oct. 19 earned the sophomore his first Offensive Player of the Week award.
SCHULTE'S BREAKOUT GAME EARNS NATIONAL RECOGNITION
CollegeSoccer360.com named Kevin Schulte its Primetime Player of the Week for Div. I men's soccer for his performance against UC Irvine on Oct. 19.
The publication recognized 12 players from across the country and selected Schulte as its top honoree.
UC DAVIS EARNS REGIONAL RANKING
The NSCAA has ranked UC Davis ninth in the Far West Region, marking the Aggies' first ranking of any sort since the 2008 season.
THE WILD, WILD BIG WEST
UC Davis' three straigh wins have launched the Aggies into a tie for first place with UC Irvine... Both teams own an identical league record (5-2) and 15 points.
A regular-season title would be the first for UC Davis since joining the Big West in 2007... That year the Aggies finished in second place which is their highest conference finish to date.
UC Riverside is unbeaten in its last three games and is in third place with 10 points at 3-3-1... Cal State Northridge and Cal Poly own a share of fourth place with nine points.
The top four teams advance to the Big West Tournament Nov. 9-12 at campus sites.
The Oct. 19 win over UC Irvine marked UC Davis' ninth overtime game of the year.
UC Davis has played over 96 minutes of extra time in 2011... This equates to one entire regulation game plus nearly an entire overtime period.
The Aggies lead the Big West Conference in overtime matches and has played over twice as many overtime matches as Cal State Northridge, UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara...All three have the next highest number of overtime matches with four.
UC Davis is 4-3-2 in games that have gone into extra periods.
UC Davis is also inching closer to tying the NCAA Div. I record for most overtime games in a single season... Saint Louis set the record with 11 OT matches in 2003 and San Diego State tied it with 11 of its own in 2009.
KEEPING `EM CLOSE
With the exception of UC Davis' 3-0 loss against Cal State Northridge on Sept. 28, every other match has been decided by one goal or resulted in a tie.
On three different occasions, UC Davis found themselves down by a goal before coming back to tie or win: Sept. 2 against Seattle (1-1 tie), Oct. 19 at UC Irvine (2-1 win) and Oct. 22 against Cal Poly (2-1 win).
UC Davis has scored in the final ten minutes of the game or in overtime six different times to either tie or win the game:
- Sept. 9 vs. Oregon State - game winner in 104th minute
- Sept. 23 vs. Sacramento State - game-tying goal in 86th minute
- Oct. 5 at Cal Poly - game winner in 83rd minute
- Oct. 15 at Cal State Northridge - game winner in 93rd minute
- Oct. 19 at UC Irvine - game winner in 98th minute
- Oct. 22 vs. Cal Poly - tied game in 82nd minute; game winner in 85th minute
