AGGIES, MATADORS FACE OFF IN BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIP
UC Davis, the top-seeded team in the North Division, hosts the top-seeded from the South Division in Cal State Northridge in the championship match of the Big West Conference Tournament.
The game will kick off on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Aggie Soccer Field in Davis.

SCOUTING CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE (14-6, 7-3 BIG WEST)
Cal State Northridge defeated Cal Poly 2-0 on Wednesday in the semifinal of the Big West Tournament to advance to its first championship game.
Sophomore Sagi Lev-Ari scored his conference-leading 13th goal of the season in the win... He also leads the league in points (26) and is tied for first in game-winning goals with six.
Goalkeeper Michael Abalos was named the Big West Goalkeeper of the Year and enters Saturday's game with a 0.94 goals against average to go with a .760 save percentage... His 7 shutouts are the best in the Big West.
Junior Carlos Benavides has 10 assists on the season, ranking him No. 1 in the conference
The Matadors clinched the Big West South Division on Oct. 27 with a 2-1 win at UC Riverside to advance to the postseason for the first time since 2009.
Saturday marks Cal State Northridge's first-ever Big West Tournament final appearance.
ALL-TIME AGAINST CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE
UC Davis owns a 7-4-2 overall record against Cal State Northridge since first meeting in 2005... The Aggies suffered a 2-0 loss in Northridge on Sept. 29.
The teams last met in Davis last season with Cal State Northridge claiming a 3-0 victory.
UC Davis has traditionally played strong at home against Cal State Northridge and own a 4-2 record over the Matadors at Aggie Soccer Field.
THE ROAD TO THE FINALS
UC Davis opened the 2012 campaign unbeaten, staring with a 1-0 season-opening victory against UNLV... It was the first victory in a season opener for UC Davis since 2008.
The Aggies went on to four straight draws, tying with then-No. 17 CSU Bakersfield (Aug. 27), Air Force (Aug. 31), Denver (Sept. 2) and San Francisco (Sept. 6)... All four were road matches.
UC Davis dropped four out of its next five games, but topped No. 23 Tulsa 2-1 on Sept. 14.
Since a 2-0 loss at Cal State Northridge on Sept. 28, UC Davis owns an 8-2 record... Both losses came to Cal Poly.
The Aggies put together a four-game winning streak, starting with a 3-1 victory at UC Irvine on Sept. 30.
AGGIES IN THE BIG WEST TOURNAMENT
Saturday marks UC Davis' first-ever appearance in the Big West Tournament championship game.
It is UC Davis' third time in the conference tournament after appearances in 2008 and 2010.
Wednesday's win over Cal State Fullerton was UC Davis' first-ever Big West Tournament victory after falling in the semifinals in both 2008 and 2010.
In 2008, UC Irvine, ranked eighth nationally, took a 1-0 win in the tournament semifinals... UC Davis, ranked 14th, received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament that year and advanced to the second round.
In 2010, the Aggies dropped a 2-1 decision to UC Santa Barbara at Harder Stadium in the tournament semifinals.
THREE AGGIES LAND ON BIG WEST ROLLS
Kevin Schulte and Omar Zeenni each earned All-Big West Conference second team honors while Alex Henry was an honorable mention.
Schulte has appeared in all 20 matches and has scored three goals.
Zeenni closed out the regular season with a 10-5-4 overall record to go with six shutouts... He was named Big West Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 4... He is tied for fourth all-time in single season saves with 65.
Henry earned back-to-back Big West Offensive Player of the Week honors this season after assisting on the gamewinner against UC Riverside, then scoring the gamewinner himself against Cal State Fullerton two games later... The very next week he took down then-No. 8 UCSB with a goal in the 85th minute... He owns a team-leading four assists.
UC DAVIS 2, CAL STATE FULLERTON 0 (NOV. 7)
Matt Sheldon scored his third goal of the year in the 26th minute, then Ian Palmer put away his first career goal in the 82nd minute as UC Davis claimed a 2-0 Big West Tournament semifinal win over Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday at Aggie Soccer Field.
Omar Zeenni recorded his sixth shutout of the year.
It was UC Davis' fourth win in the last five games and second consecutive victory.
