Complete All-Far West Region Team

DAVIS, Calif. - Sophomore defender Brian Ford was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Far West Region third team, joining some of the top players on the West Coast on the national publication's regional selection.

He becomes the first NSCAA All-Region selection since 2008 when Quincy Amarikwa and Dylan Curtis were each named to the first team.

Ford started all 21 games, spending just six minutes of the entire 2012 season on the sidelines as he helped lead the Aggies to the Big West Conference North Division title and an appearance in the conference tournament final.

With Ford in defense, UC Davis allowed just 19 goals, the lowest total since the 2008 season, and posted six shutouts while also claiming wins over UNLV and then-No. 23 Tulsa as well as season sweeps over UC Santa Barbara, which ranked as high as eighth nationally, and Sacramento State.

In addition to his strong defense, Ford also provided a spark on the offensive end, assisting the tying goal in the 85th minute against San Francisco on Sept. 6 before scoring his first career goal on Oct. 20 at Sacramento State, tying the game in the 60th minute.

Ford was selected to the All-Far West Region team alongside players from other Big West Conference institutions including Cal State Northridge's Michael Abalos and Sagi Lev-Ari as well as Cal Poly's Mackenzie Pridham and UC Santa Barbara's Emmanual Boateng.
