Top Drawer Soccer Top 100 Freshmen | Top Drawer Soccer Big West Conference Top 20
DAVIS, Calif. -- Already recognized as one of the top freshmen on Top Drawer Soccer's Best XI teams for 2017, Nabi Kibunguchy was ranked as the No. 17 freshman in the nation according to the organization, while five of his teammates were also ranked among the top 20 players in the Big West Conference, wrapping up postseason awards for the past season.
Adding United Soccer Coaches all-region third team and All-Big West Conference first team honors to his freshman Best XI selection, Kibunguchy was one of two Big West players among Top Drawer Soccer's top 100 freshmen, joining UC Santa Barbara's Rodney Michael (No. 9).
It is the second time that an Aggie newcomer has been among the list after junior Roy Boateng finished the 2015 campaign at No. 92.
As far as the league goes, a conference-best five players were listed among the top 20 in the Big West, led by Boateng, who came in at No. 3 behind only UC Irvine's Giovanni Godoy and Cal State Fullerton's Ross McPhie. Senior midfielder Onah Power was ranked No. 10, senior midfielder Miguel Acevedo was No. 13, sophomore forward Adam Mickelson was No. 14, and senior defender Greg Salazar finished at No. 18.
The five players are the most of any school in the league, edging out UC Irvine, Cal State Fullerton, and CSUN, which had four apiece. Sacramento State finished with three on the list.
