IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine captured five of six singles matches as it posted a 6-1 victory over UC Davis in a men's tennis match Saturday afternoon at Anteater Tennis Stadium.
With the loss the Aggies fall to 1-4 on the season.
The match opened with the Anteaters swweeping all three doubles matches for the opening point. The best match of the three came at No.3 where the pair of Mustafa Ulukan and Aaron Ellis needed a tiebreaker to defeat Daniel Furman and Justin Garica, 9-8 (7-3).
In singles play, the Anteaters captured the first four matches in straight sets. At No.5 Jordan Combs provided UC Davis with its only team point when he defeated Olof Sjolund, 6-4, 7-5. At No.6 singles, UC Davis' Henri Landes and Ulukan went to a third-set tiebreaker before Ulukan prevailed, 5-7, 6-2, (10-7).
UC Davis concludes its two-match Southern California road swing on Sunday at UC Riverside.
