UC Davis Michael Chin, Bastian Bartels and
Ross Barasch each posted two wins on the day as UC Davis defeated
Sonoma State 7-2 in a men's tennis match Sunday afternoon at Hickey
Courts.
With the win the Aggies improve their season record to 2-3.
The Aggies took two of three doubles matches to open the day.
Kyle Trinosky and Barasch earned an 8-4 win over Patrick Nagle and
Andrew Laing at No.1 while Bartels and Chin needed a tiebreaker to
defeat Thomas Morton and Ronnie Tuttle, 9-8 (9-7) at No.3.
In singles play, the Aggies took five of six matches to seal
the victory. Chin defeated Nagle at No.1, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 while Jayce
Fitch defeated Laing at No.3, 6-2, 6-1. Bartels won at No.4,
defeating Phillip Taylor, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 and Barasch won his second
match of the day, defeating Matt Parker, 6-2, 7-5, at No.5. Casey
McMakin won his singles match at No.6, defeating Tuttle 6-2, 6-2.
Sonoma earned its victories at No.2 doubles when Parker and
Taylor defeated Casey and Kyle McMakin, 8-3, and Morton defeated
Robert Wong, 6-3, 6-3 at No.2 singles.
UC Davis will next be in action on February 13-15 at the
California Men's Team Invitational in Pomona.
