MORAGA, Calif. - In one of two singles matches to go the distance in UC Davis' dual against Saint Mary's at the Korth Tennis Complex, Brett Bacharach recorded his team's only point as the Aggies fell 6-1 in Sunday afternoon's non-conference match.

UC Davis drops to 4-5 with the decision while Saint Mary's improves to 3-4.

Facing the Gaels' Seif El Sherbini as the Aggies' No. 4 singles, Bacharach rebounded in impressive fashion after dropping the first set 6-7, posting a 6-2 second set score to force additional action.

Bacharach completed his comeback attempt by capturing the third set 6-4 to defeat El Sherbini in the final match of the afternoon, also posting his team's only point in the process.

The final overall score may reflect a Saint Mary's victory by a by a sizable margin; had UC Davis earned a few more service breaks at key points throughout the afternoon, the final outcome would have truly reflected the competitive nature of Sunday's match - one that could have easily fallen in the Aggies' favor.

Even though UC Davis may have been swept in the doubles round, two of those three matches were decided by a single service break, ending in matching 8-6 scores.

Of the six singles matchups, one was lost by the Aggies 6-7, 6-7, with another narrowly ending in Saint Mary's favor by a 6-4, 6-4 result.

Competing alongside teammate Bacharach in one of the last two singles matches still in action, George Horowitz also needed a third set to declare a victor.

Winning the first set 6-3, Horowitz lost the second set 1-6 and valiantly battled throughout the third frame in an attempt to help the Aggies finish the day with a strong and positive result.

UC Davis earned its first point once Bacharach's match concluded, ending the day's dual in the process. But Horowitz came as close as one could to earning the Aggies' first team point, eventually falling 4-6.
