Aggies Split Singles Before Nevada Prevails, 6-3

DAVIS, Calif. - The University of Nevada swept all three doubles matches then captured two three-set match as it defeated UC Davis 6-3 in a non-conference men's tennis match Saturday afternoon at Hickey Courts.

With the loss the Aggies fall to 5-5 on the season.

Nevada came out strong to open the match, taking all three doubles points. Adam Jooste and Dani Ericsson came away with an 8-5 win over Ross Barasch and Kyle Trinosky at the top spot while Rudi Leuschner and Brandon Sieh hung on for the 9-7 win over Bastian Bartels and Michael Chin at No.2. Nevada made it a sweep as Milos Popovic and Max Volger won an 8-6 decision over Casey and Kyle McMakin.

In singles action, the teams split the six matches. UC Davis captured wins at No.'s 3, 5 and 6. Robert Wong came away with a 6-7, 6-4, (11-9) win at No.3 while Barasch dropped the first set before rallying for the 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 win over Sieh at No.5. Casey McMakin earned the Aggies only straight-set win with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Rafal Stupka.

The Wolf Pack earned wins at the top two spots as Jooste defeated Jayce Fitch, 6-2, 6-1 at No.1 and Leuschner defeated Chin 6-0, 6-7, 6-1 at No.2. Nevada's final win came at No.4 as Ericsson needed three sets to defeat Bartels, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.

UC Davis will next be in action on Sunday when it visits Sacramento State. Matchtime is set for 3 p.m.
