Aggies Sweep Swarthmore, Post 7-0 Victory

DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis captured the opening doubles point then carried the momentum into singles play as the Aggies snapped a seven-match skid with a 7-0 victory over Swarthmore in a men's tennis match Saturday afternoon at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.

With the win the Aggies improve to 2-8 this season.

UC Davis won all three doubles matches to take the opening point. Michel Chin and Justin Garcia posted an 8-2 win over Brian Park and Jonathan Reiss at No.1 while Jordan Combs and Casey McMakin blanked Justin Durand and Jonathan Lo, 8-0, at No.2. At No.3, Henri Landes and Daniel Elefant earned an 8-4 win over Rahul D'Silva and Sam Sidhu.

In singles action, earned four straight-set wins to clinch the match. At No.2 Chin posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Park with Combs defeating D'Silva, 6-1, 6-3, at No.3. At No.5, McMakin defeated Adam Wallwork, 6-0, 6-4 and Bastian Bartels won his second straight match at No.6, defeating Sidhu, 6-1, 6-0.

UC Davis won in three sets at No.1 when Jayce Fitch won 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 over Reiss and at No.4 when Elefant defeated Lo, 6-0, 5-7, 6-4.

UC Davis is next in action on Sunday when it travels to Moraga for a 1 p.m. meeting at Saint Mary's.
