MORAGA, Calif. - Yury Platonov earned a three-set victory at No.5 singles to spark a come-from-behind victory as Saint Mary's defeated UC Davis, 4-3, in a men's tennis match Sunday afternoon at the Korth Tennis complex.

With the loss the Aggies fall to 2-9 on the season.

The Aggies opened the match by taking two of three doubles matches for the opening point. Michael Chin and Justin Garcia posted a narrow 9-7 win over Platonov and Julien Tizot at No.1 while Casey McMakin and Jordan Combs also won 9-7, defeating Martin Marechal and Andre Sion at No.2. The Gaels picked up a win at No.3 when J.J. Whitlinger and Adam Fauvre defeated Daniel Elefant and Henri Landes, 8-4.

In singles play, UC Davis earned straight-set wins at No.1 and No.6 as Jayce Fitch posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over Marechal at the top spot while Bastian Bartels won his third straight match with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Tim Welty.

Saint Mary's garnered victories at No.2 when Tizot defeated Chin, 6-1, 6-1, and Sion beat Combs, 6-2, 6-2, at No.3. Fauve then evened the score at 3-3 when he beat Elefant, 6-3, 7-5, at No.4. That left the match in the hands of Planotov and McMakin at No.5 singles. McMakin won a close first set, 6-4, but Planotov capped the comeback win by taking the next two sets by identical 6-1 scores.

UC Davis is next in action on Saturday when it visits Sacramento State at the Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.
