DAVIS, Calif. - Jayce Fitch, Michael Chin and Ross Barasch each earned two wins as UC Davis swept all six singles matches on its way to an 8-1 win over Swarthmore College Tuesday afternoon at Hickey Courts.
With the win UC Davis evens its record at 7-7 on the season.
The day began with the Aggies taking two of three doubles matches. Bastian Bartels and Chin were first off with an 8-5 win over Zach Rodd and Mike Norieka, 8-5, at No.2. UC Davis picked up its other win at No.1 where Barasch and Fitch earned a 9-7 win over Brian Park and Mike Norieka. Swarthmore earned its only win of the day at No.3 doubles where Ben Rae and Jon Reiss defeated Casey and Kyle McMakin, 8-6.
In singles play it was all UC Davis. The Aggies picked up straight-set wins at No.'s 2-6 while Fitch rallied from a set down to defeat Rodd, 3-6, 7-6 (10-4) at No.1 singles. Casey McMakin was first off after a 6-0, 6-1 win over Park at No.5 followed by Chin's 7-5, 6-1 victory over Visciano at No.3. Robert Wong picked up a win at No.2, defeating Reiss 6-3, 6-4 with Barasch and Blake Roberts earning identical 6-4, 6-3 wins in the remaining two matches. Barasch defeated Rae at No.4 while Roberts won his third consecutive match at the No.6 position.
"I was impressed with out team's effort," said Aggie head coach Daryl Lee. "I think it reflected that we were prepared to compete today."
UC Davis will be off for the next month until returning to match play at Nevada on April 10.
