HONOLULU, Hawaii - Hugo Verdi-Fortin took a singles victory in straight sets despite the UC Davis men's tennis team dropping a 6-1 contest at Hawai'i on Friday at the UH Tennis Complex.

The Rainbow Warriors earned the doubles point by winning two out of three matches before taking five singles victories in straight sets. The Aggies fell to 3-10 on the season while Hawai'i added their first home win on senior day to improved to 4-9.

After falling in No. 1 doubles, Chris Aria and Alec Haley posted a win at the No. 3 position with an 8-5 victory. UC Davis was edged at No. 3 doubles, after the team of Carter Lam and Jared Spiker edged Toki Sherbakov and Josh Albert, 9-8 (6).

The Rainbow Warriors sealed the match victory by taking wins at the No. 5, 2 and 3 positions. Verdi-Fortin managed the only win of the day for the Aggies, downing Charlie Rice, 6-4, 6-3. Haley managed to take four games in each set at No. 6 singles before falling to Danilo Casanova, 6-4, 6-4.

UC Davis will be back in action tomorrow, facing Hawai'i Pacific at 2 p.m.
